Jugu skipper Ryan Mcnamee has hailed his squad after they claimed the club championship title with a 0-12 to 0-9 victory over Aughnamullen on Sunday.

Mcnamee praised his players for their never-say-die attitude and their ability to grind out a result in difficult conditions.

“It was a tough game, but we showed great character to come out on top,” said Mcnamee.

“Aughnamullen are a good side, but we were able to match them for intensity and desire.

“We knew we would have to be at our best to win, and we were. I’m so proud of my players.”

Jugu’s victory was their first club championship title since 2010.

Mcnamee said the win was a just reward for all the hard work the players had put in over the past few months.

“We’ve been working hard all year, and it’s great to finally get our hands on the trophy,” said Mcnamee.

“We’re a young team, but we’ve shown that we can compete with the best.

“We’re going to enjoy this victory, but we’re also going to keep working hard and see how far we can go.”
